The History of Knox Kershaw Inc.
The company was started by Royce Kershaw Sr. as the Royce Kershaw Company, specializing in railroad contracting and railroad bridge construction.
During World War II, Royce Kershaw Sr. develops the first Ballast Regulator and cribbing machine as a solution to the labor shortage caused by the war.
As demand increases for innovation in the railroad industry, the company’s focus shifts from contracting to manufacturing and Mr. Kershaw starts Kershaw Manufacturing Company, Inc. while continuing to operate Royce Kershaw Company as a contracting business.
The Royce Kershaw Company celebrated a milestone in company history, declaring that it had built, reconditioned, or removed over four thousand miles of track throughout the United States.
Knox Kershaw takes over Royce Kershaw Company and changes the name to Knox Kershaw Inc, operating first as a contractor and later developing the business into a manufacturer and remanufacturer of MOW equipment.
Knox Kershaw Inc. remains a family owned company committed to building sophisticated equipment to provide track maintenance solutions for Class I’s, Shortlines, and contractors in the United States and abroad.
The Knox Kershaw Product Line showcases a diverse range of equipment to suit the needs of customers large and small including ballast regulators in multiple sizes and gauges, snow fighters, brushcutters, bridge and tie cranes, cribber adzers, tie handlers, yard cleaners, material handlers, and more.
