Machine Description

The Knox Kershaw KTR 400 is an efficient tie exchanging machine that uses hydraulically powered clamps and an integral rail jacking system to lift the rail for plate removal and replacement, and a hydraulically powered arm to effortlessly remove old ties and replace them with the new. It also provides auxiliary hydraulics to be used as a power source for hand tools.

Power Unit:
QSB 4.5, 110HP, Tier 3 engine with 24V electrical system. 16” cast steel wheels. Service brakes are air applied, spring released, and parking brakes are spring applied, air released on all wheels. 80 gal diesel fuel tank, 16 hrs of operation, lockable cap, particle strainer. 40 gallon hydraulic tank with lockable cap, tank breather, fluid level gauge, magnetic strainer, particle strainer. Permanently mounted turntable with easy access controls and air operated locks.
Cab:
Cushioned, adjustable seat with joystick controls for work head operation. Hydraulic joystick controls give precise proportional control over tie removal / insertion. Right foot pedal used for propel control and left foot for brake pedal. Engine controls and monitoring on easily accessible console. Horn button and parking brake on front console. Open operator station with canopy roof. Canopy has access for single point lift through roof. Optional Enclosed Cab: Three passenger seating with hydraulic driven air conditioner. All appropriate led lighting – travel, stop, work, strobe, etc...
Hydraulic System
Tandem pump arrangement provides the control/propel system with oil, while independently circulating oil through a cooler and filter.
Propel System
Engine driven pressure compensated piston pump drives vane motor. Three speed manual transmission gives travel speed up to 30 mph. Propel is through chain drive to front axle. Foot pedal control.
